What is the difference between HCR and LSR silicone?


HCR (High Consistency Rubber) and LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber) are two different types of silicone rubber materials with distinct properties and applications.

HCR silicone is typically supplied in a solid or semi-solid form, similar to traditional rubber compounds.

It requires heat curing to achieve its final properties. This process involves molding the silicone into the desired shape and then subjecting it to elevated temperatures for a specific period to cure.

HCR silicone is commonly used in applications where a durable, flexible material is needed, such as gaskets, seals, O-rings, and various industrial and automotive components.

LSR silicone comes in liquid form and is injected into molds under high pressure. It then undergoes a chemical reaction (cross-linking) at room temperature or with the application of heat to cure and solidify.

LSR offers several advantages, including excellent flowability, high precision in molding, and fast curing times.

LSR is often used in applications requiring intricate shapes, tight tolerances, and superior biocompatibility, such as medical devices, baby products, kitchenware, and consumer electronics.
